Terms of use

This page sets out the agreement between KwikBillng and the businesses that use it. It covers accounts, plans, getting paid, what is not allowed, and what happens when either side wants to stop.

This version took effect on 29 August 2026.

1. The agreement

KwikBillng is operated by Pils Tech LTD. Creating an account means accepting these terms, and they apply for as long as the account exists.

Where these terms mention how personal information is handled, the privacy policy gives the detail, and it forms part of this agreement.

If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.

2. Accounts

An account belongs to a business rather than to a person. The person who creates it becomes the owner, and the owner can invite colleagues and decide what each of them is allowed to do.

Anybody creating an account must be at least 18 and must be entitled to act for the business they are registering. The details given at sign-up must be accurate, and they must be kept accurate.

Passwords must be kept private. Everything done in an account is treated as done by the business that holds it, so an account that has been shared or left signed in on a shared machine is a risk the business carries. Anybody who believes an account has been reached by somebody else should tell us immediately.

3. Verification

Nigerian regulations require a business to be identified before money can be sent to it. KwikBillng asks for that identification in stages, and each stage unlocks more of the product.

A business can create an account and raise invoices before verifying anything beyond an email address. Receiving payouts requires a verified Bank Verification Number and a verified bank account. Higher limits require business registration details.

We may ask for further information if a regulator requires it or if something about an account needs explaining. An account that cannot or will not provide it may have payouts held, and section 11 covers what happens next.

4. Plans and payment

KwikBillng has a free plan and several paid ones. What each plan includes and what it costs are shown on the pricing section of the home page, and the price quoted at checkout is the price charged.

  • Paying in advance. A paid plan is bought for a period, monthly or yearly, and paid for before the period starts.
  • Renewal. A business can choose to keep a card on file so that the plan renews automatically. That choice is made at checkout and can be withdrawn at any time from the billing page, in one press and with nothing to confirm.
  • Cancelling. Cancelling stops the next renewal and does not end the period already paid for. The business keeps everything it has paid for until that period runs out.
  • Moving down a plan. A downgrade takes effect at the end of the current period rather than immediately, because the current period has been paid for at the current plan.
  • Refunds. We do not refund a period that has started. If something has gone wrong, we would rather hear about it than have somebody assume the answer, so please write to us.
  • Price changes. If we change what a plan costs, the new price applies from the next renewal and never retrospectively. We will give notice by email before that renewal.

5. Getting paid

When a customer pays an invoice, the money is collected by our payment partner and settled to the business that issued it.

KwikBillng takes a commission on payments collected through the platform. The rate that applies is shown in the product, and the rate is fixed onto each payout at the moment it is raised. Changing the rate later never restates a payout that has already been raised.

Payouts go to the verified bank account on the business’s own record. Keeping that account correct is the business’s responsibility, and money sent to an account that was entered incorrectly may not be recoverable.

Payment processing is subject to our partner’s own timing and their own checks. We do not control how quickly a bank credits an account, and a delay in the banking system is not something we can shorten.

A payout can be held where a payment is disputed, where fraud is suspected, or where a regulator requires it. We will explain the reason where we are allowed to.

6. The developer API

Businesses can ask for access to the KwikBillng API and drive the product from their own software. Access is granted by request rather than automatically, and there is no plan requirement attached to asking.

  • A separate wallet. API calls are charged to a prepaid developer wallet rather than to a plan. The two never interact: an account on the free plan with a funded wallet has a working API, and the same account raising an invoice by hand uses its plan allowance instead.
  • Funding. The wallet is topped up in advance, with a minimum of fifty thousand naira for each top-up. The balance can be spent all the way down, and a call is refused only when the remaining balance cannot cover it.
  • What a call costs. Prices are published on the API documentation and are read live from the same source that bills them. The price is fixed onto each call when it is accepted, so a later change never restates what has already been charged.
  • Test calls are charged too. A rehearsal made with a test key spends the same queue and the same resources as a live call, so it is metered at the same rates. Test records stay out of the dashboard, the exports, the plan allowance and the payouts.
  • Failed calls are not charged. The cost of a call is held when it is accepted, taken only when the work succeeds, and returned when it does not.
  • Keys. An API key carries the full authority of the account that issued it. Keys must be kept secret, and a key that may have been seen by somebody else should be revoked immediately from the developer section.

Unused wallet balance is not refundable in cash, and it remains available to spend for as long as the account is open.

We may apply rate limits, and we may suspend API access for an account whose use threatens the stability of the service for everybody else. Where that happens we will say why.

7. What the invoices say

KwikBillng produces invoices from what a business enters. The business decides what it is charging for, what it is charging, and what tax applies. We calculate totals from those figures and we do not check whether they are right.

A business is responsible for the accuracy of its invoices, for charging the correct tax, and for meeting its own filing obligations. KwikBillng is a tool for issuing and collecting on invoices, and it is not an accountant, a tax adviser or a bookkeeper.

The value added tax rate applied to an invoice is the rate the business has set, and it is frozen onto that invoice when it is raised. Changing the rate later affects new invoices and never rewrites the arithmetic on a document already in a customer’s hands.

8. Acceptable use

KwikBillng may not be used for anything unlawful, and it may not be used to invoice for anything unlawful. Beyond that, these are the specific things that will cost an account its access.

  • Invoicing people who have not agreed to buy anything, or using the platform to send unsolicited messages.
  • Entering false business or identity details, or verifying an account with somebody else's documents.
  • Collecting payments on behalf of another business without telling us, which is what regulators call transaction laundering.
  • Attempting to reach another business's records, whether through the product, the API, or by any other means.
  • Interfering with the service, testing its security without our written agreement, or working around rate limits.
  • Reselling or reproducing the product as a service of your own.

We would rather ask a question than close an account. If something about an account looks wrong, our first step is usually to write and ask about it.

9. Who owns what

A business owns its own records. Invoices, customers, payment history and documents belong to the business that created them, and they can be exported at any time in a format other software can read.

We own the software, the design, the brand and the documentation. Using KwikBillng gives a business the right to use the product, and it does not transfer any of that to them.

We hold a business’s records only so that we can provide the service. We do not use them to build anything else, and we do not make one business’s data available to another.

Feedback and suggestions are welcome, and we may act on them without owing anything for the idea.

10. Availability

We work to keep KwikBillng available and quick, and we cannot promise it will never be down. Maintenance happens, dependencies fail, and networks between us and a customer are outside our control.

We do not offer a service level guarantee on any plan today. If that changes, it will be published rather than implied.

Parts of the product depend on other companies, particularly for payments, identity checks and email delivery. When one of those is unavailable, the part of KwikBillng that depends on it will be unavailable too, and the product is built to say so rather than to fail quietly.

11. Suspension and closure

A business can close its account at any time by writing to us. Closing an account stops future charges, and section 8 of the privacy policy explains what happens to the records.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, that is being used for fraud, that a regulator requires us to act on, or that has gone unpaid past the end of a period. Except where the law prevents it or where acting quickly is necessary to stop harm, we will give notice and a chance to put things right.

A suspended account keeps its records. Money already collected and owed to the business remains owed, subject to any hold a regulator or a payment dispute places on it.

12. Limits on our liability

Nothing here limits liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything else the law does not allow to be limited.

Subject to that, we are not liable for business losses such as lost profit, lost revenue or lost opportunity, and we are not liable for the acts of the payment partner, the identity partner or any other company we rely on beyond our own part in choosing and managing them.

Where we are liable, our total liability for all claims in any twelve month period is limited to the amount that business paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.

KwikBillng is provided as it is. We make no promise that it will fit a particular business need beyond what the product does and what these terms say.

13. Changes to these terms

These terms will change as the product changes. When something material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and tell account holders by email before the change takes effect.

Continuing to use KwikBillng after a change means accepting the updated terms. Anybody who does not accept them can close their account, and we will refund nothing already spent but will stop charging from that point.

14. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the courts of Nigeria have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.

Before anybody goes to court, we would ask them to write to us. Most disputes we have seen came from a misunderstanding that a conversation settled, and we would rather have that conversation.
